ICT Curriculum at ARTS Education
Brief ICT Curriculum Overview can be found here
The intent of the ICT curriculum is to equip students with the digital knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to use technology effectively, safely, and creatively in a fast-moving digital world. By exploring a wide range of topics such as digital communication, online safety, data handling, programming, and responsible use of technology, students are encouraged to reflect on how technology shapes their lives and the world around them. The curriculum is designed to help students thrive as digital citizens, preparing them for future education, careers, and participation in a technology-driven society.
ICT Curriculum at Key Stage 3 and 4
The ICT curriculum at Key Stage 3 and 4 aims to ensure that all students:
Develop digital literacy – understanding how to use computers, software, and online tools effectively for learning, communication, and creativity.
Learn about online safety and wellbeing – including protecting personal information, understanding cyberbullying, recognising misinformation, and making safe, responsible choices online.
Explore coding and computational thinking – building problem-solving skills through programming, algorithms, and logical reasoning.
Understand digital communication and collaboration – including respectful online behaviour, digital etiquette, and working together using shared digital platforms.
Investigate how technology impacts society – exploring issues such as digital identity, the influence of social media, artificial intelligence, and the ethical use of technology.
Develop critical thinking about digital influences – considering how media, advertising, algorithms, and online trends shape opinions and decisions.
Gain practical skills for the future – including handling data, creating digital products, managing online content, and learning about emerging careers in technology.
Communicate confidently and effectively – through presentations, reports, coding projects, digital media, and online discussions.
Engage with wider issues in ICT – such as digital equality, accessibility, human rights in the online world, environmental impacts of technology, and the role of innovation in shaping the future.
